About Us

Since 1898, J.H. Williams & Company Funeral Home has served the greater East Providence, Rehoboth, Seekonk, & Dighton communities with the finest in funeral service. Our founder, James Haviland Williams earned the reputation as the finest furnishing Undertaker in the area. He served as Funeral Director, Health Officer for the city of East Providence, and was active in many civic affairs. Mr. Williams gave every call thorough attention and personal supervision given into his charge. We are proud to continue his legacy.

Our historic Victorian home is elegantly appointed with period fireplaces, beautiful woodwork, oil paintings, and antique furnishings. We are proud to only serve one funeral at a time, ensuring our families have the building to themselves without extraneous noise or interruption from dueling calling hours or funeral services.

Unlike modern “cookie cutter” facilities, our Queen Anne Victorian home has maintained all of the original charm and detail since its construction. Our parlors are elegantly appointed with ample seating for relatives & friends. For those who prefer a traditional and beautiful room for funeral services and visitation, look no further than J.H. Williams & Co. Services that require seating for 150 guests may be easily arranged and directed at a church or facility of your affiliation. We are one of the few firms with the original home chapel equipment to offer funeral services held from your private residence.

In May of 2016, Greg & Toni Scott entrusted their third generation family funeral home to Andrew J. Correia, a dedicated funeral director and embalmer. Andrew is the Managing Funeral Director & Embalmer of The Cranston-Murphy Funeral Home of Wickford and the former Rhode Island State Inspector of Funeral Establishments & Crematories. He is a member of the British Institute of Embalmers and a graduate of the New England Institute of Funeral Service Education. Together, Andrew, Greg, & Toni have formed a strategic partnership to ensure the future of J. H. Williams & Company. Gregory A. Scott remains active in the community and available to the many families he has been honored to serve throughout the years.

J.H. Williams & Co. is one of the oldest most prominent names in Funeral Service, which is why the name has never been changed or added to. We ensure your complete comfort and satisfaction without compromise. We are an independently owned funeral home serving all families, regardless of financial circumstance. All available services are uniquely personal and affordable. Thank you for visiting our website and for your consideration of J.H. Williams & Company. Please do not hesitate to phone us anytime, day or night, with questions or concerns. We always remain available to serve you with gentle, sensitive service.
