Vartan Vartanian

Vartan Vartanian, 89, of Narragansett, formerly of Rumford, died peacefully on Sunday, January 15, 2017.  He was the beloved husband of the late Euphemia D. (Hood) Vartanian.  Born in Pawtucket, he was a son of the late Asadoor Vartanian & Mary (Surian) Vartanian. 

Mr. Vartanian was a graduate of RISD where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree.  He was a well-respected & patented Mechanical Engineer, working for various companies throughout his career.  He proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII.  He was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, member of Barney Merry Lodge, F. & A.M., Worthy Patron of Limerock 26 Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, member of Newman Congregational Church, and the Porsche 356 Registry. 

He leaves his five loving children: Susan M. Silveira and her husband Sergio of Rumford, Michael A. Vartanian and his wife Leslie of Lincoln, Nancy E. Dolan and her husband Stephen of Cumberland, David V. Vartanian of Fort Collins, CO, and Mark M. Vartanian and his wife Kathryn of Monroe, NC.  Proud grandfather of twelve grandchildren and one great-grandson.  He was the brother of Rose Wroe of East Dennis, MA, Michael Vartanian & his wife Madeline of Seekonk, & the late Vahan Vartanian.  He was the brother-in-law of Barbara Vartanian of Pawtucket. 

His Funeral Service will be held Friday, January 20, 2017 at 11:00 am at Newman Congregational Church, 100 Newman Avenue, Rumford.  Burial will follow in New Fernwood Cemetery, Kingston.  Relatives & friends are invited and may call on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in J.H. WILLIAMS & CO. FUNERAL HOME, 210 Taunton Avenue, East Providence.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research 110 East 42nd Street, 16th Floor, New York, NY 10017 in memory of his loving wife “Femie."
