Marilyn Marie Johns

MARILYN MARIE JOHNS (October 19, 1929-July 4, 2017), 88

JOHNS, MARILYN MARIE formerly of Rumford/East Providence and Barrington passed away after a long illness at Shady Knoll Health Center in Seymour, CT. She was born in Providence, RI to Louse (Boler) and Oscar Stake.

She graduated from East Providence High School in 1947 and from The University of Rhode Island in 1951 with a BS in Education. She was a member of the Delta Zeta sorority. She was employed as a school teacher in the East Providence school system and later as activities director at a nursing facility in East Providence.  She volunteered at the Barrington Public Library and the Barrington Congregational Church, and was involved with the Barrington Junior Women’s Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband William and sons Michael and Craig Johns. She is survived by her son William Johns, Jr.  of Southbury, CT, her son-in-law Fredrick Carbone, her daughter-in- law Barbara Ostrove of Chepachet, RI, her grandchildren Megan, Amanda, and Sara Johns and her great-grandson Theodore.

Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Rumford, RI on July 21, 2017. There will be a private family graveside service.

Arrangements have been entrusted to J.H. WILLIAMS & CO. FUNERAL HOME, 210 Taunton Avenue, East Providence.
