Mildred (Forney) Jackson

Mildred (Forney) Jackson, 93, of East Providence, died peacefully on Sunday, December 24, 2017 at Waterview Villa. She was the wife of the late Amel Jackson. Born in Crouse, NC, she was a daughter of the late Elvie Forney & Susie (Alexander) Forney.

Mrs. Jackson worked in proto type assembly for Teradyne, Inc. until her retirement. She loved art and all types of music, although Gospel and Jazz were her favorites. She was a sports fan especially basketball. She was a member of Haven United Methodist Church. For the years she lived in Boston she was known for her wisdom and kindness to everyone. All that entered her home knew gracious and unconditional hospitality.

She leaves her loving daughter, The Rev. Althea V. Jackson (Pastor of Haven United Methodist Church) of Riverside. She was the sister of the late Ollie Forney, Clara Gaither, Sarah Lowery, Elvie Forney, Jake Forney, & Martha Artis. She also leaves many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. They can attest to the fact that they were loved by her.

Her Funeral Service will be held Friday, December 29, 2017 at 11:00 am in Haven United Methodist Church, 200 Taunton Avenue, East Providence. Burial will follow in Rumford Cemetery. Relatives & friends are invited and may call at the church from 10:00-11:00 am prior. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory to Haven United Methodist Church will be appreciated. Arrangements have been entrusted to J.H. WILLIAMS & CO. FUNERAL HOME.
