Charles J. Hindley, Jr., 79, of Barrington, died peacefully on April 3, 2026 at Silver Creek Manor. He was the loving husband of Susan (Girvan) Hindley and the late Patricia (Filip) Hindley. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Charles J. Hindley and Mary Lou (Cline) Hindley.
Charlie served as President of Hindley Manufacturing Co. for many years, continuing its long-standing history in Rhode Island since 1897.
He was a 1969 graduate of Brown University and served in the U.S. Naval Reserves.
He was a Communicant of St. John’s Episcopal Church, the Acoaxet Country Club, Rhode Island Country Club, Elephant Rock Beach Club, the Spindle Rock Club, and the FD Club.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his loving children, Carolyn H. Bersot of Orinda, CA, Annie H. Miller & her husband Erik of Dallas, TX, Amy H. Hambacher & her husband Michael of Salt Lake City, UT, Stephen M. Troy & his wife Kristen of Jacksonville, FL, Kristen T. Segal & her husband Martin of Summit, NJ, and Erin T. Logue & her husband Ryan of East Greenwich. Cherished grandfather of thirteen grandchildren, whom he adored. He was the brother of Nancy Nottage of North Andover, MA, Barbara Haacke of Fairfield, CT, and the late Judith A. Hindley.
His Requiem Eucharist will be held Friday, April 10, 2026 at 11:00 AM in St. John’s Episcopal Church, 191 County Road, Barrington. Burial in Forest Chapel Cemetery will be private.
Calling hours are respectfully omitted.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Charlie’s memory to St. John’s Episcopal Church, or to ALS Therapy Development Institute.
