Donald Abrams Obituary

Rehoboth
Abrams, Donald F., 79, passed away peacefully on Sept. 18th, in the presence of his family, in his home which he built himself and lived in for fifty years. A life-long resident or Rehoboth, Donald was known to many as a highly skilled tradesman, small business owner, avid golfer, hockey fan, civic volunteer, loyal friend, neighbor, devoted husband and father, and all around good guy. He was self-employed and took great pride in his life's work of installing and servicing private wells and water systems in thousands of homes throughout the area. His greatest satisfaction came from helping his customers, many of whom became friends. Donald enjoyed giving back to the community and quietly helping others in need. He was a member and past President of the Rehoboth Lions Club and a member of the Anawan Club.  He participated in several local golf leagues and enjoyed the company of many longtime friends and countless acquaintances. Above all, Donald loved and enjoyed spending time with his family.  He is survived by his wife Carol, to whom he was married for 58 years; his daughter Lynn Belanger and her husband Don, of Somerset, MA; his son Glenn Abrams and his wife Theresa, of Somerset, MA; and his son Darren Abrams and his partner Julie Boylston, of Stow, MA.  He will be dearly missed by his 5 grandchildren who brought him much pride and joy: Amanda, Catherine, Claudine, Brandon and Kyle; and his 2 great grandchildren.  He also leaves two sisters, Dorothy Dutra of Rehoboth and Joan Rochon of Vero Beach, FL; and two brothers Ken Abrams of Rehoboth and Larry Abrams of Seekonk. His brothers Bill and Peter predeceased him. Donald was the son of the late William and Dorothy Abrams.  Calling hours are Tuesday, Sept. 22nd from 4-8PM, in the J.H. WILLIAMS & CO. FUNERAL HOME, 210 Taunton Ave., East Providence, RI. Funeral and Burial are private. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Hospice department of community VNA, 10 Emory St., Attleboro, MA  02703, who provided compassionate care and assistance to Donald and his family.
