Doris Davenport Obituary

Doris M. (Davies) Davenport, 97, of Seekonk, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2020 at Linn Health Care Center.   She was the wife of the late Thomas I. Davenport.  Born in New Bedford, MA, she was a daughter of the late James A. Davies & Edith (Williams) Davies.

Mrs. Davenport was a graduate of Dartmouth High School Class of 1940.   She was a graduate of St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing Class of 1943 and worked as a Registered Nurse throughout her career, retiring from Butler Hospital & Tockwotton Home.  

She was a former Deaconess of Seekonk Congregational Church where she taught Sunday School and was the first parish nurse.   She was a member of the Oakhill Seekonk Grange.  

She leaves her loving daughters, Doreen D. Rasteiro & her husband Juvenalio of North Dartmouth, MA and Deborah D. Karol & her husband Jeffrey of Wrentham MA.   She was the  mother of the late Thomas R. Davenport.  Cherished grandmother of four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.  She also leaves her niece, Nancy J. (Makin) Walsh of Westport, MA. 

Her funeral and burial in Rural Cemetery, New Bedford will be private.   A Service of Remembrance & Thanksgiving at Seekonk Congregational Church, UCC will be held at a later date.   In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory to the Doris Davenport Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 80032, South Dartmouth, MA 02748 or to the Seekonk Congregational Church, UCC, 600 Fall River Ave., Seekonk, MA 02771 will be appreciated. 

Arrangements have been entrusted to J.H. WILLIAMS & CO. FUNERAL HOME, 210 Taunton Avenue, East Providence, RI.
