Dorothy “Sue” Hainey (Allaire), 77, of Seekonk MA died on March 6, 2026 after a long illness. Born on June 7, 1948, she was predeceased less than 3 months ago by her loving husband of over 50 years, Michael V. Hainey. When asked the secret of their long marriage on their 50th Anniversary they said “marrying someone you get along with” was most important.
Sue was a lifelong resident of Seekonk MA. She graduated from Dighton- Rehoboth Regional High School. Growing up, summers were spent in Onset MA near the beach. She loved sailing her small sailboat out to the Cape Cod Canal and beyond.
Sue loved and was accomplished at crafts of all kinds including Tole painting, cross stitch, quilting, and wood burning. For years she managed and taught classes at a popular craft store with her mom Dorothy in North Seekonk, near the old Benny’s. They also spent hours every year creating and donating to the local church Christmas bazaar.
Sue and her husband Mike often rode his motorcycle. For many years they went to the annual “Bike Week” in Laconia, NH on vacation with friends. She was also an avid popular fiction reader, lifelong Red Sox fan, and enjoyed going to musicals at Providence Performing Arts Center. Her favorite show was Peter Pan starring Sandy Duncan. She loved pets and always had a cat or dog, often both. For many years she also worked at town elections.
While working in tax preparation and bookkeeping Sue also graduated from Bristol Community College with a degree in Business Administration. She was promoted to manager and continued I.R.S. classes, becoming an Enrolled Agent. She was proud of this accomplishment because the tests were very challenging.
Dorothy Susan Hainey (Allaire) was a loving caretaker for her parents George and Dorothy Allaire of Seekonk MA, who predeceased her. She is survived by her sister-in-law Rita Clement (Hainey). She is the forever loved Mom of her step-daughter Kim. Sue is also remembered by family and friends.
Calling hours and flowers are respectfully omitted. Arrangements by J. H. Williams & Co. Funeral Home East Providence, RI. The funeral with burial in Thomas Cemetery will be private.
