Euphemia Vartanian Obituary


Euphemia D. “Femie” (Hood) Vartanian, 85, of Narragansett, formerly of Rumford, died peacefully on July 31, 2016.  She was the beloved wife of Vartan Vartanian.  Born in Pawtucket, she was a daughter of the late Hugh Hood and Margaret (Morrow) Hood. 
Mrs. Vartanian worked as a Secretary at the Scottish Rite Cathedral for many years until her retirement and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.  She was a member of Newman Congregational Church where she was active in many committees, church choir, and Sunday school.  She enjoyed quilting, sewing, knitting, & rug hooking. 
Besides her husband, she leaves her five loving children: Susan M. Silveira and her husband Sergio of Rumford, Michael A. Vartanian and his wife Leslie of Lincoln, Nancy E. Dolan and her husband Stephen of Cumberland, David V. Vartanian of Fort Collins, CO, and Mark M. Vartanian and his wife Kathryn of Monroe, NC.  Cherished grandmother of twelve grandchildren and one great-grandson.  She was the sister of Malcolm Hood of North Attleboro and the late Janet Etheredge. 
Her Funeral Service will be held Friday, August 5, 2016 at 11:00 am in Newman Congregational Church, 100 Newman Avenue, Rumford.  Burial will follow in New Fernwood Cemetery, Kingston.  Relatives & friends are invited and may call on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in J.H. WILLIAMS & CO. FUNERAL HOME, 210 Taunton Avenue, East Providence.  In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory to the Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research 110 East 42nd Street, 16th Floor, New York, NY 10017 will be appreciated.
