Hazel Patricia (Whelan) Legge, age 83 passed away peacefully on November 5, 2016. at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center surrounded by loving family. Born in Pawtucket, RI on May 29, 1933. “Pat” was the beloved wife of Richard, and they recently celebrated their 63rd anniversary. They lived in Walpole and Franklin, MA and Wallingford, CT while raising their family and spent time in Newton, NC where they made dear and devoted friends. Most recently lived in Rumford, RI under the loving care of their daughter Linda.
She was the loving mother of Debra Legge and her husband John, Jo Ann Laliberte and her husband Dave, Donna Chasse, Linda Legge, David Legge and his wife Elizabeth and Carol Laman. She is the cherished Grandma to Jacob, Erik, Justin, William, Jeffrey, Nicholas, Sarah, Rory, Joshua, Douglas, Joseph, Emily, and Mitchell and great Grandma to Xander, Devin, Jack, Jackson and Hazel. Pat spent her life dedicated to her family and was always encouraging others to “share their smile”. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, playing games with her grandchildren and doing puzzles. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. Her greatest joy came through the happiness of her children. She will always be fondly remembered for her strength, resilience, love and spunk.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America or to Hope Hospice & Palliative Care, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, Rhode Island 02904.
