Helen L. Crews

Helen L. Crews, 97, of East Providence, died peacefully on Friday, February 24, 2023 at Linn Health Care Center.  She was the wife of the late Spencer J. Crews.  Born in Seekonk, she was the daughter of the late Edgar J. Mitchell and Grace (Gradwell) Mitchell.  

Mrs. Crews was the Executive Secretary to the President of Sun Oil Company for many years until her retirement in 1980.  She then worked for Harold Winston, Esq. as a legal aide into her 80’s. She was a long time member of Seekonk Congregational Church, UCC.  She belonged to the Red Hat Society and was a member of the RI State Grange for over 80 years.

She leaves her loving nieces and nephews: Beverly Griffiths and her husband Thomas, Victor Fowler and his wife Susan, and Lorraine Fowler.  She was the sister of the late Ruth Mitchell Hall, Edgar J. Mitchell, Jr., Doris Mitchell Fowler, and aunt of the late Jack Fowler and Dean Mitchell.   She was the grand-aunt of Jennifer Driscoll, Kimberly Griffiths, Samantha Lacombe, Pamela Fowler, and Dawn Dalebout.  She was the great-grand aunt of Dante, Brayden, Ashley, Dylan, Tyler, Brody, Hunter, Aiden, Kaydence, Zackary, Liam, and Tyler.  She also leaves her dear friend, The Rev. Dr. Claudia Demick.  

Her family is grateful to the staff of the Linn Health Care Center for the wonderful care she received from them. 

Her Service of Remembrance & Thanksgiving will be held Sunday, March 12 2023 at 2:00 P.M. in Seekonk Congregational Church, UCC, 600 Fall River Avenue, Seekonk, MA. Burial in Rehoboth Village Cemetery will be private. 

In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory to Seekonk Congregational Church, UCC will be appreciated.
