Mitchell, James, 51, passed away Monday January 13th, 2014. He was the son of the late James and Martha (Peck) Mitchell. He is survived by his siblings Anne Gullo, Robert Mitchell, William Mitchell as well as several nephews and nieces. As a young man James served in the Army Reserves from 1979-1985. James worked as a welder, then built houses and was also a bartender. He was a long-time member of the Portuguese Sporting Club on Gano Street in Providence. He considered the members and customers there to be his extended family. James, who was a fixture in the Fox Point neighborhood in which he resided and where he was affectionately known as “Mitch”, will be remembered for his countless acts of generosity and kindness. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 18'th, at 10:00 AM, in Our Lady of Loreto Church, 346 Waterman Ave., East Providence. Burial will follow at Mount Saint Mary's Cemetery, Pawtucket.
