N. Jane (Sykes) Hogan, 56, of Exeter, died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, September 26, 2016. She was the loving wife of Patrick K. Hogan. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late George E. Sykes, Jr. (Seekonk Chief of Police, Retired.) and Nancy J. (Sheridan) Sykes.
Jane was an avid equestrian, Bruins fan, enjoyed getting out for a round of golf, but mostly being Grammy. She had been a member of the RI Horseman’s Association, Tri-State Horseman’s Association and RI 4-H. Jane owned and operated Find It Farm, where loved to teach young children the basics of riding. She also worked as a member of the greens staff maintaining the grass at Sodco Inc., Turf Inc., Potowomut G.C., and Goddard Park G.C.
Besides her husband, she leaves her loving daughter, Sarah J. Hogan of Exeter and her grandson William B. Sellon of Warwick. She was the sister of Cornelia A. Scott and her husband Gregory of Seekonk, MA, George E. Sykes, III and his wife Jayne of Lebanon, NH, Virginia M. Lewis of Nantucket, MA, and the late Andrew C. Sykes. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.
At Nancy’s request, her funeral and burial will be private. Calling hours are respectfully omitted. Gifts in her memory to RI 4-H Club Foundation, RIGCSA S& B Fund or RINLI Ken Lagerquist Scholarship fund will be appreciated.
