Kerry Joyce Lonergan, formerly of Seekonk, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2026.
She was the beloved widow of Frank Allendorff Lonergan of Seekonk, Massachusetts.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Kerry was the daughter of Leland B. Cottam and Grace Elizabeth Cottam.
Kerry is survived by her loving children: James L. McKay and his wife, Elizabeth J. Sharp-McKay; Kelly A. Kolodny and her husband, Douglas E. Kolodny, and their children, Joshua Kolodny and his wife, Megan Kolodny, Anna Grace Kolodny, and Jonathan Kolodny; and Daniel P. McKay and his wife, Christine McKay, and their children, Sean McKay and Mark McKay.
She is also survived by Frank’s daughter, Midi Bernardin; her husband, Paul Bernardin; their daughter, Chloe Bernardin; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-niece, and great-nephews.
Kerry spent most of her life in Massachusetts. She lived for a time in Rehoboth, Massachusetts with her children before relocating to Malvern, Pennsylvania, with her husband, Frank, and their three children, Jim, Kelly, and Dan. In 1983, the family returned to Massachusetts to be closer to Kerry’s aging parents, Leland and Grace.
A devoted Episcopalian, Kerry was deeply active in her faith community throughout her life. She worked in the bookstore at La Salette Shrine in Attleboro, Massachusetts, and also served over the years as a church secretary at various parishes. Kerry was known for her volunteer work at annual church bazaars, and she and Frank frequently hosted church coffee hours, warmly welcoming friends and parishioners alike.
Kerry shared a love of gardening and canning with Frank. She delighted in feeding the birds and squirrels outside her kitchen window and leaving carrots in the backyard for visiting rabbits. Her affection for animals was evident throughout her life, as she lovingly cared for many cats and dogs over the years.
She also enjoyed camping adventures with Frank, traveling to campgrounds in pop-up campers, hard-top campers, and their beloved Winnebago “Mini Winnie.” Kerry found great joy in crafting, especially rubber stamping and handmade cardmaking, creating thoughtful cards for friends and family. She was also a wonderful cook who loved hosting dinner parties for family and friends, especially those from her church community.
Kerry was a loving and devoted grandmother who treasured time with her grandchildren. She happily babysat them over the years and rarely missed an opportunity to attend her granddaughter’s ballet and dance performances, school events, and many other activities and celebrations.
Above all, the most important things in Kerry’s life were her Christian faith and her love for her children and grandchildren. There was nothing she would not do for her family.
A private burial service will be held at Village Cemetery in Rehoboth, Massachusetts.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kerry’s memory to the memory care unit at Catholic Memorial Home in Fall River, Massachusetts, whose staff provided her with compassionate and exceptional care during the final four years of her life.
Kerry was preceded in death by her brother, Leland H. Cottam, and her parents, Leland B. and Grace E. Cottam.
Arrangements are in the care of the Home of J.H. WILLIAMS & CO.
