Margaret K. Hopkins

Margaret K. “Peg” Hopkins, 95, of Seekonk, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 2, 2021 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. Born in Providence on July 19, 1926, she was the daughter of the the late Finley W. and Jean (Grant) Cruickshank and the wife of the late Oliver Hopkins, Jr.

Peg attended Hope High School, Providence, and upon graduation became a fingerprint analyst for the FBI in Washington, D.C. Later she was employed by the Town of Seekonk and worked in both the Tax Assessor’s Office and in the Seekonk High School Special Needs Department as a teacher’s aide. She was a member of the Seekonk Congregational Church.

Peg married Oliver Hopkins, Jr. in 1947 and they raised their family in Seekonk. She had a love for painting, the beach, travel, and spending time at their cabin in Norway, Maine. Peg had a gift for words; she would tell stories that one thought would never end. Her greatest joy was the love she had for her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her two sons; Stephen O. Hopkins and his wife, Lisa, of Westport, and Robert B. Hopkins and his wife, Susan, of Boothbay Harbor, Me. She was the mother of the late Susan M. Rowse of Rehoboth. She also leaves her son-in-law, Ted Rowse, of Rehoboth. She also leaves her cherished six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Her graveside service will be held Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 10:00 AM in Springvale Cemetery, Rumford.
