Maria Goretti Vicente

Maria Goretti (Machado) Vicente, 63, passed away peacefully at home on June 16, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.  A loyal and loving wife of Jacinto Vicente for 44 years. 

Goretti was born on December 14, 1957, to Moises Machado and Almerinda Carneiro (São Miguel, Azores, Portugal).  She resided in Rehoboth, MA. Goretti found great pleasure in being a home maker, caring for her four children and four grandchildren. Building a life full of family, faith and love was her passion.

Goretti was a bright light in any room. She was an excellent cook and loved to feed people. Her arroz doce (sweet rice) was famous for being the best around. Sitting around the dining room table, sharing a meal, having a laugh, enjoying spiritual conversation and appreciating the simple things in life brought her much happiness. She was a treasured friend to all those who knew her. 

Goretti was a devoted Jehovah’s Witness who loved to teach the Word of God and enjoyed bringing comfort to those by using the bible as a reference of hope. She was baptized on April 19,1986 and attended the East Providence, RI Portuguese Congregation in Seekonk Massachusetts for 35 years. She was deeply loved by all those in her Congregation. Her faith and love were strong for her God Jehovah and she kept His promises close to her heart. (Revelation 21:4)

Loving mother to, Maura and her husband, Steven Melo of Swansea. Geoff and his wife, Gina Vicente of Warren, RI. Nelson and his wife, Lauren Vicente of North Dighton and Levi Vicente of Rehoboth.  She was the most special Vavó to Samuel and Nola Melo, Talia and Nathan Vicente. She was also step-Vavó to Jacob and Nick Perry of Bristol, RI.  

Funeral services will be private and held at Rehoboth Village Cemetery. 

Arrangements are in the care of the Home of J.H. WILLIAMS & CO., 210 Taunton Avenue, East Providence, RI.
