NATALIE V. TORTIS
Natalie Virginia Tortis of Gaithersburg, MD and Ft. Myers, FL (formerly of Bristol, RI) passed away peacefully on October 16, 2013. She was the beloved wife for over fifty years of the late Ralph Tortis. Mrs. Tortis was the cherished mother of Bethany (Dick) Kadish of Rockville, MD, Stephen (Donna) Tortis of Seekonk, MA and Nancy and Geraldine Tortis, both of whom predeceased her. Mrs. Tortis was the adoring Grammie of Jonathan Tortis, Jennifer (Marc) Cassell, Andrew (Vicki) Kadish and Jill (Chris) Alloway. She was the great-grandmother of Raphael and Matthew Cassell and Rachel and Jacob Kadish.
Mrs. Tortis was a school nurse and also served as the director of a senior citizens' meal site in Rhode Island. She loved to travel with her family and visited Australia, Great Britain, Canada, many Caribbean islands and many sections of the United States. She especially enjoyed watching British television shows and old movies.
She will be buried with her husband at Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery in a private ceremony. Memorial donations may be made to Montgomery Hospice/ Casey House, 6001 Muncaster Mill Road, Rockville, MD 20855.
