She was a member of the 1947-1948 cheerleading squad, supporting her school as they won multiple state sport championships. Many of her lifelong friendships were with her classmates. She worked on every Durfee reunion committee from the 10th through the 70th.
After starting her career with the Fall River Electric Light Company, Phyllis went to work at St. Jean Baptiste Federal Credit Union. She loved her time at the credit union and spent over 50 years there, working her way up to loan officer and assistant treasurer. Helping customers who were her neighbors and friends brought her tremendous joy.
While a long-time member of the Acoaxet Club at Westport Harbor, she never quite mastered the game of golf herself. She was, however, an enthusiastic cheerleader for her husband and friends when they played.
Phyllis will be remembered for holding her family close to her heart. She cherished her nieces and nephew along with their extended families. Nothing made her happier than the opportunities in which her family gathered together.
