Rosalind A. Colley, 101, of Barrington, died peacefully on November 7, 2024 at Hattie Ide Chaffee Home. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Raymond W. Colley and Lucy A. (née Jackson) Colley, and sister of the late Duncan J. Colley, Sr.
With a passion for knowledge and travel, Ms. Colley was a graduate of Westbrook College in Maine and the University of North Carolina. She then pursued a career with the University of Texas, working in a genetics and biology research laboratory for many years before retiring back to Rhode Island. There, she joined the Barrington Presbyterian Church and was a choir-member; and with her passion for genealogy and history, she was a long-time member of Daughters of the American Revolution (Bristol Chapter). In retirement, Rosalind loved art classes, puzzles and games, and was wonderfully social - making friends wherever she went, and regaling her family with stories from her youth.
She leaves behind her beloved nephew, Duncan J. Colley, Jr. of Barrington, and grandnieces Elizabeth C. Chwalk of Barrington and Laura I. Colley of Alexandria, VA. Additionally, she was the cherished great-grandaunt of C. Forrest Chwalk and Duncan J. Chwalk.
Her graveside service at Swan Point Cemetery will be private. Calling hours are respectfully omitted.
Arrangements are in the care of the Home of J.H. WILLIAMS & CO.
