William James Codega, Jr.

William James Codega Jr., age 79 of Irving Avenue, originally from Warren and lifelong resident of Bristol, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on December 7th, 2022 at the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center.   He was the beloved husband of the late Lisa (Carlson) Codega.  Born in Fall River MA on June 27th 1943, he was the son of the late William and Anne (Plesniak) Codega.

He is survived by his beautiful daughters Jennifer (Frederick) Holden of Beverly, MA and Nicole (Richard) Szeliga of Rumford, RI, wonderful sister Helen Durand of Tuckahoe, NY, niece Emilie Cafferty of Arlington, MA, and special nephew John Codega of Columbia, SC who donated his kidney to him 21 years ago.  He also leaves behind countless cousins, friends, and his church family.

He was preceded in death by his brother James Codega.

Bill graduated from the Plus School of Business at Bryant University.  He worked as a computer analyst at General Electric, Martek Corp. and was the owner of Jenole Screenprinting Company.  Later in life he would own a restaurant and antique dealership.

Bill’s true calling was that of an artist. He was a gifted painter and could often be found with fellow artists at Don’s Art Shop in Warren, RI.  He was a true lover of nature, avid gardener, world traveler, and skilled sailor.  Bill made friends and helped people wherever life took him.  He  was a kind and loving soul with a great sense of humor.

A celebration of Bill’s life will be held on Saturday, January 28th, 2023 at 11 a.m. at the Seekonk Congregational Church, 600 Fall River Avenue, Seekonk, MA 02771.  Burial will be private.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bill’s memory can be made to the Seekonk Congregational Memorial Fund.
